The integration of HomePlug® Powerline Communication (PLC) technology into existing devices is of interest not only to manufacturers of multimedia devices. While the advantages of such devices are primarily found in the residential sector, they also prove beneficial in application areas in the commercial world. For example, equipping security cameras and measuring devices with dLAN® networking technology makes it possible for these devices to transmit measurement and surveillance data even where a conventional networking infrastructure does not exist. This not only provides such devices with added functionality, but also increases their potential areas of application.
