Home AutomationThe field of home automation is still in its infancy. Experts and market researches agree, however, that the networked home will not result simply by connecting individual IT and consumer electronics devices.

There are already impressive demonstrations of technology that indicate what is possible if entire areas of a home are integrated. For example, a home's weather station can be integrated with the roller blinds and the heating system. If a storm approaches with a significant decrease in temperature, it is then possible to react intelligently: The awnings are retracted and the roller blinds closed. In addition, the heating system keeps the temperature at a constant pre-set 21 degrees Celsius. What sounds like science fiction is perfectly possible today in terms of technical implementation. The elements of housing technology have only to be connected, and a separate, open protocol must be adopted for these services.

dLAN® is an excellent solution for connecting the elements of housing technology. This devolo technology can be integrated into the various devices directly and without problem by means of modules, or can be retrofitted using the well-known adapters wherever housing technology products communicate within a networked home.
