devolo provides an upgrade for its MicroLink dLAN Highspeed adaptersFree firmware update offers new functions and higher data ratesAachen, September 28, 2005—The new firmware version 1.5 from devolo significantly improves the functionality and data rates of MicroLink dLAN Highspeed adapters. This new firmware improves data rates under difficult conditions, increases throughput with an improved error correction, and enables the use of the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP). Even devices that have been shipped already can be upgraded for free with the update which is available for download from the devolo homepage (www.devolo.com). Users who download the new firmware now will benefit 3-fold. The firmware version 1.5 offers better data rates especially when the connection is problematic, and improved error correction provides a higher throughput. The firmware update also benefits dLAN Highspeed users who make frequent use of IP-TV: The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) caters for the administration of multiple users of IP-TV. This means trouble-free TV and video fun on several computers at once. Firmware version 1.5 Before installation, the update automatically checks if a connected adapter already contains the latest firmware version 1.5 and will carry out the update, if required. It is important that the dLAN adapter is directly connected to the computer. Adapters connected via the electricity circuit cannot be updated. For this one time, they must be connected directly to the PC. The firmware update is supported be the operating systems Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Data rates of up to 85 Mbps over the household power supply. The MicroLink dLAN Highspeed adapters offer speeds of up to 85 Mbps over the household electricity circuit—a real alternative to conventional Ethernet cabling. This dLAN technology is far superior to the wireless standards b and g in offering longer range and better transmission quality. Walls and ceilings are no obstruction for dLAN products. A further decisive advantage: There is no installation necessary whatsoever. Just plug in the MicroLink Highspeed adapters and they transform the wires in your household power circuit into ‘true’ network cables that are ready for immediate use.
