devolo supplies the first 200-Mbps products for in-house powerline and coax cable: dLAN 200 AVpro and dLAN 200 AVpro i for business customers

Aachen, November 23, 2006—devolo AG, the networking specialist based in Aachen, Germany, pioneer and European market leader in HomePlug technology, introduces the first two HomePlug AV-based products tailored for business applications. The dLAN 200 AVpro and the dLAN 200 AVpro i transfer data, video and TV not only over the household power circuit but also over coax cable (TV cable) at speeds of up to 200 Mbps. Typical areas of application are not so much in private homes as in hotels, hospitals, for housing associations and cable network providers. With the new dLAN 200 AVpro and the dLAN 200 AVpro i (which features a metal housing) Internet can now be fed via coax cabling into every room in a hotel or hospital. This takes advantage of the antenna sockets which are generally available in all of the rooms in these buildings. Available from retailers now, they are priced at EUR 159.90 for the dLAN 200 AVpro and EUR 179.90 for the dLAN 200 AVpro i.

Developed especially for business customers, these products provide broadband network connections to every power socket or antenna socket within a building. Networking via coax lines as well as via the power circuit opens up completely new possibilities to business users. Coax lines have additional advantages over power lines: They offer a persuasive combination of very low noise levels, low attenuation and very long range. And the best thing is: Not a single new cable has to be laid for installation. These two desk-top devices are equipped with an Ethernet connector, a coax connector and a Europlug for connection to the power supply.

Built-in security

HomePlug AV is the new international standard for data communications via in-house powerlines or coax cable and is capable of data rates of up to 200 Mbps—including integrated functions for Quality of Service (QoS). dLAN networks offer particularly high levels of security. Unlike with WLAN networks, a potential attacker first has to gain physical access to the user's power circuit or coax lines to be able to access the data. dLAN 200 AVpro and dLAN 200 AVpro i ensure very high security as 128bit AES (the Advanced Encryption Standard) is integrated.

Available in retail

Available from retailers now, the prices are EUR 159.90 for the dLAN 200 AVpro and EUR 179.90 for the dLAN 200 AVpro i.
