Press Informationdevolo dLAN 200 AV transforms any power socket into a 200-Mbps network connectionAachen, December 05, 2006. The networking specialist devolo AG based in Aachen, Germany, pioneer of HomePlug technology and European market leader, introduces the latest from their dLAN range of products, the dLAN 200 AV. This power-plug sized adapter represents the latest generation of in-house powerline devices which transfer data at up to 200 Mbps over the household power circuit. Based on the international HomePlug standard, this adapter provides users with a broadband network connection at every power socket in the house, and there's no need to lay a single new cable. All you need is a free power socket. With integrated Quality of Service, even HDTV streams distributed to any room in the house can be played back smoothly. The dLAN 200 AV is retailing now at EUR 109.90 (individual adapter) and at EUR 199.90 (Starter Kit with 2 products). Small, fast and smart The latest addition to devolo's popular dLAN line, the dLAN 200 AV is based on HomePlug AV which transforms any power socket into a 200-Mbps network connection. HomePlug AV is an international standard adopted just last year by the HomePlug Powerline Alliance which includes companies such as SONY, Intel, Motorola and Samsung. This standard represents the latest generation of in-house powerline technologies and greatly increases the range of potential applications. Just the size of a power plug, the dLAN 200AV offers a smart and simple way to set up a home network. Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG, aims to please users and meet their needs: "Even the shape of the dLAN 200 AV helps the customers. All they have to do is look at it and they know that installing the power plug will be straightforward and problem free." The dLAN 200 AV features an Ethernet connector for quick and simple integration of PCs and other Ethernet-capable devices into a home network. High bandwidth and security The dLAN 200 AV is for users who want to view Internet TV and video-on-demand anywhere in their homes. With Quality of Service (QoS) integrated, even HDTV streams can be played back smoothly. The gross bandwidth at 200 Mbps is sufficient, for example, to simultaneously transport two HDTV signals (66 – 84 Mbps), home-theatre audio or CD audio into two rooms (9 - 11 Mbps) and six VoIP telephone calls (1 Mbps) throughout the home network—and even then it still has the capacity to transfer IP data at 10 Mbps. Powerful 128-bit AES encryption ensures a high degree of data security. The dLAN 200 AV also features a power-saving mode which reduces power consumption by 30% when the device is not being used. Like the other dLAN adapters, a wide variety of operating systems is supported including Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP 32, MacOS x and Linux. Available in retail The dLAN 200 AV is retailing now at EUR 109.90 (individual adapter) and at EUR 199.90 (Starter Kit with 2 products).
