Aachen, 25th January, 2007—devolo AG, the networking specialist based in Aachen, Germany, is extending their product range with the WLAN USB Stick which connects amazingly simply to routers, even those from other vendors. The devolo WLAN USB Stick, retailing now at EUR 34.90, provides a fast and secure wireless connection from the computer to the devolo router dsl+ 1100 WLAN using the IEEE 802.11g++ standard (for 125 Mbps) or to any other vendor's WLAN router using the standards IEEE 802.11b or g. This makes the WLAN USB Stick ideal for high-power broadband Internet applications.
Wireless 35 percent faster
Under Windows XP with Service Pack 2, the new WLAN USB Stick installs itself almost as if by magic. Compactly built, its very simple installation and secure WPA2 wireless encryption provide immediate wireless networking pleasure. With support for the WLAN mode 802.11g++ (125 Mbps), net data transfer rates can exceed those with 802.11g (54 Mbps) by up to 35 %. In combination with a devolo dsl+ 1100 WLAN, all it takes to set up a WPA2-encrypted wireless network is a simple press of the WECT button.
Set up your WLAN in ease
Setting up a secure WLAN network with the devolo WLAN USB Stick is amazingly easy. After just two steps you'll be ready to go: First of all you plug the WLAN USB Stick into the laptop/computer, then you insert the product CD and follow the instructions. And that's it! Under Windows XP with Service Pack 2 the remaining driver installation is fully automatic. Also automatic is the establishment of a fast and secure wireless connection to the dsl+ 1100 WLAN, or even to WLAN access points from other manufacturers. And it really is secure! WEP, WPA and WPA2 are the supported methods of encryption for wireless connections.
In stores
The devolo WLAN USB Stick is retailing now at EUR 34.90.
