Press ReleaseHomePlug adapters from devolo now support Linux tooAachen, May 11, 2004—“More and more private users are turning to the Linux operating system and wish to network their home computers via the existing electrical wiring”, says Heiko Harbers, CEO of devolo AG in Aachen, Germany. This is why the market-leader for HomePlug adapters is also the first to offer all-round Linux support with its new Web Package, available now. This includes a Linux driver, developed in-house at devolo, for the MicroLink dLAN USB adapter. The dLAN Linux Package 1.0 also includes configuration software for devolo HomePlug adapters that allows the assignment of passwords in Linux. “We will be investing considerable energy in Linux support for our entire product range, now and in the future”, promises Heiko Harbers. At the centre of the devolo philosophy is—according to the company’s founder—the customer’s desire for devices that are easy to install and operate. Self-explanatory installation menus, configuration tools, detailed manuals and a Support Hotline that is available weekdays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. help the customer if questions should arise. “The services we offer, our quality-control regime and software developed in-house clearly differentiate our products from the competition”, emphasises devolo’s CEO. The dLAN Linux Package 1.0 is available for immediate download from www.devolo.de.
