Data encryption at the push of a button: devolo dLAN 200 AVeasy makes network security even simpler

The first 200 Mbps HomePlug-AV adapter with a convenient security feature

Aachen, October 1, 2007. devolo AG, the Aachen-based network specialist, pioneer in the field of HomePlug technology and European market leader, is launching the latest member of its dLAN family - the dLAN 200 AVeasy. This new device features a particularly useful innovation: data encryption at the push of a button. With this "Encryption Button", an encrypted network connection can easily be set-up directly on your computer. PC or software are thus no longer required for set-up procedures. Maximum data security in the home network has never been so simple or convenient. dLAN 200 AVeasy will be available for purchase in October.

A technical innovation with the highest usability

With the dLAN 200 AVeasy, devolo is pioneering the world market as the first manufacturer to develop a HomePlug-AV adapter, which encrypts data at the push of a button. Setting up a dLAN network has never been easier than with the Encryption Button, which is installed underneath the dLAN 200 AVeasy. By simply pushing this button, maximum data security is immediately established between the adapters. The user benefits greatly from this as neither PC nor software are required for set-up. To install the adapter, you only need to plug in the adapters and push the encryption buttons once. Your network is immediately secure. As before, dLAN 200 AVeasy can also be set up via the software provided. Heiko Harbers, CEO of the devolo AG, particularly cares about the fact that dLAN products must be user-friendly: "We are always striving to improve our products. The dLAN 200 AVeasy offers our customers maximum data security while providing the simplest handling." With the dLAN 200 AVeasy, which is based on the international HomePlug-AV Standard, you can set up a broadband network connection at every socket in the building with up to 200 Mbps, without having to rearrange even a single cable. The Ethernet connection on the dLAN 200 AVeasy means that PCs and other network-compatible devices can be integrated quickly and easily to form a home network. By optimising the firmware, the maximum number of dLAN adapters connected to a single network could be increased to 64, which is four times higher than before.

Low power consumption

The integrated Quality-of-Service function (QoS) ensures interruption-free transfer even with video or HDTV streams. Comprising 200 Mbps, the gross band width is strong enough to split two HDTV signals (16 – 24 Mbps), CD audio in two rooms (6 Mbps) and four VoIP telephone connections (1 Mbps) in your home network all at once – while still keeping sufficient reserves to transfer IP data at high speeds. A powerful 128bit AES encryption guarantees a high degree of data security. The dLAN 200 AVeasy is equipped with a Powersave mode, which reduces power consumption by 30% when not in use. As is customary with devolo, the new dLAN adapter also supports a wide range of operating systems, comprising Windows XP, Windows Vista 32/64 as well as Mac OS X and Linux.

dLAN 200 AVeasy will be available for retail from the end of October at Euro 109,90 (single adapter) or Euro 199,90 (starter pack with 2 adapters).
